For the april edition of the Vintage Reggae Night at YAAM Berlin we are working hard on our new big setup and will present the 4 18″ scoops with new amping at a dance for the very first time. We’ll share the dancehall with Roots Rakete and his full soundsystem. It will definitely be a night with a lot of bass and great tunes from 60s Ska to 80s Digi Killers. All from vinyl as you know it from that event.

Knowing the famous Ska tune by Prince Buster you might expect the Prince of Peace coming from another geographic direction but he’ll come from the south, Munich to be exact. He is one of the organisers behind Reggae Hit The Town down there and providing the only quality jamaican oldies dance in town. He got in touch with the beautiful sound of young jamaica through Dancehall and modern Reggae and is an enthusiastic collector since a longer stay in London where he dived into the scene in 2015. For the second edition of the Maratone Rocksteady Club a DJ-Team from Sweden will play their Berlin premiere. Sure Shots consists of the DJ-duo Vitaliy & Johan which during the year 2014 got the idea of starting their own event in Södermalm in Stockholm. For a number of years, they had been collecting records individually and it was a mutual understanding that Stockholm was in need of an alternative to exisiting Reggae Clubs in town. Busy dancefloors and invitations to dances abroad proved them right!

For more than four years, the Maratone Soundsystem was organizing the Rock Steady Ballroom, a popular dance for jamaican oldies lovers. The venue where it took place closed for the public this summer and a very busy farewell weekender made clear that there is demand for a party like this. So the guys running the soundsystem started looking for a suitable venue and are now happy to present a new dance in town at Privatclub in the lively and diverse neighbourhood of Berlin Kreuzberg. we have been very lucky finding a beautiful venue where we could even setup our Maratone Long Distance Hifi in 2013. since then we have provided you with original jamaican music played by selectors from all over the world. due to unpleasant reasons affecting more than just the club we have to leave this amazing place by the time of this weekender.
we invited some of our favourite guest selectors of the last 4 years and are proud to present a 1st class lineup. it will be our pleasure to welcome you for a last dance in april 2017.
