It’s been a while since we played at Festsaal Kreuzberg. Back in 2012, when this lovely former wedding ballroom was still located in Kreuzberg – just at Kotti to be precise – we ran our first Summertime Soundsystem Special there. The sound was just introduced a few months ago back then, it looked and sounded much different in it’s early days. Quite a bit has changed since: Festsaal burned down and reopened in Treptow but still carries it’s original name – Festsaal Kreuzberg. Maratone Long Distance HiFi also changed a lot, technically and even our crew is different from 11 years ago. But both, club and soundsystem still do what we always did – throw and host good parties. That’s what we link up for again, a summertime dance with good vibes and proper sound.
The young(er) generation will start the dance outdoors in the beautiful and lush green beergarden with a dancefloor on the club PA respecting the neighbours. Miss Trouble, Polly S. and Hi-Tone are well known in the Berlin Reggae scene and guarantee much more than just a warmup for a long night – it’s dancing time right from the start. Playing strictly 7″ records they carry the torch of the subculture embracing Jamaican Music.
Later on, our Maratone Crew will take over indoors. After many years of warming up the scene and hosting countless guest selectors from all over the world, Panza, Threepwood and The Rhythm Ruler will finally play a long session on the soundsystem on their own. Let’s move and groove!
Tickets availabe here.
18.8.2023, 6pm Uhr, Festsaal Kreuzberg

The Tighten Up Crew is a constant supplier of good vibes in London for more than 20 years. You can catch them at their regular “Reggae Cookout”, at Notting Hill Carnival on the Gladdy Wax Soundsystem or throwing their signature Dance “Tighten Up!” where the UK’s best selectors and Deejays will play and toast.
As it has been almost 10 years since selectors Mistah Brown, Tim P and Deejay Champian played in Berlin it is about time to get them over again. From Ska and Rocksteady to Reggae, Roots and Rub-a-Dub – Reggae Rumble will bring back the good old days of Jamaican Music.
Original vinyl records and our heavyweight Maratone Long Distance HiFi provide proper sound with bubbly basslines.

The soundsystem has been in storage for way too long, it’s time to blow off some dust! We invited two selectors that can provide the perfect tunes for this – from Original Ska, through Heavyweight Rock Steady, Boss Reggae to the toughest Roots. Tiny T and Thee Snufferer are proud owners of a trophy won at the Vintage Jamaican Music Soundclash in 2018 and 2019 and haven’t played on Maratone Long Distance HiFi since.

Thanks to our friends at YAAM we will string up the sound for a big dance at Badehaus again. Our special guest is coming from London and one of the best entertainers in the world of Vintage Reggae. Oxman was one of the selectors that made our Rock Steady Ballroom Farewell Weekender such a memorable thing and we look forward to have him around and joining us for a night of Jamaican Oldies and Good Vibes.
2nd Floor: Tropical Timewarp, a night of tropical delights! Cumbia, Highlife, Champeta, Dub, Afrofunk & beyond selected and compiled by Calamidades Lola, Tru:L and the Tropical Timewarp Collective.

The winner of the Vintage Jamaican Music Soundclash will join us for this dance dedicated to the sound of young Jamaica. Strictly good vibes and Golden Oldies from Sixties Ska to Deep Seventies Roots. All powered by our Maratone Long Distance HiFi which sounds amazing in this venue with wooden floor and perfect accoustics for a Heavyweight Soundsystem.

We’ve been waiting two years to finally carry the boxes into this lovely venue again and are happy to play big tunes on the full sound after such a long time. For health reasons our scheduled special guests Reggae Scorcher can’t make it, instead a local friend and long time collector will join us as full crew behind the decks. The Conqueror has proven his skills in the past and we are glad to hear his tunes on the Soundsystem again after many years.
Entrance will only be granted with a digital EU-certificate of a Covid vaccination or recovery, a matching ID and a negative Antigen-Test from the same day. You can get tested for free (Bürgertest) at many testcenters in town. Capacity is limited to 50% by law, so don’t be late and please be patient at the door.
