No man is an island – book release
About the book
“No Man Is An Island” is a community, not-for-profit project aiming to help people navigate the mind-numbing record pressing maze of the legendary Studio One label. This guide serves as a resource for those on a journey to find the best quality pressings of critical Studio One tracks.
The book is the result of many years of collecting records, comparing fidelity and sound quality of pressings, and digging into Jamaican music history to understand the context of the sound production.
The book is available online at buyreggae.com and you can buy a copy offline at our next dance, Reggae Rumble on the 23rd of November. You can even get it signed by the author as Moman will be our guest selector and play some of the sweet Studio One tunes you will find in the books.

Soundclash Promotion at the dub conference
Just a few months ago our Rhythm Ruler was invited by Tom Bauminista to join Goldfinga for a Dub conference special focussing on 70s tunes. Back then Tom asked to join him again for another show, this time with a selection of rare oldies. It finally happened and The Rhythm Ruler not only brought a handful of favourites, but also his long time friend and former Sweet Sensation partner Rudewoi and a recording of the Reggae round in last year’s soundclash to get you in the mood for this year’s edition in September. Many thanks to Tom, omyradio.net and rastfm for the opportunity and for great shows each and every (sun)day.
17.8.2019 – Reggae in the Grass (openair)
27.7.2019 – The Congos live
HKW strikes again! You can count on at least one great show a year at this venue. This summer they bring The Congos on their stage and after the amazing show of Cedric Myton with Inna de Yard we are quite excited about it. Hollie Cook is great too (although we can’t imagine she’ll bring a physical ‘Soundsystem’ as announced) and the movie ‘Made in Jamaica’ will sure be interesting if you are up for that after the shows.

No Vintage Night this June
Unfortunately the Berlin Vintage Reggae Night will not take place this month. Next month our Rhythm Ruler will share the decks with Stefan (Such a Sound) – as usual on the third friday of the month.
20.-22.6.2019 – This is Ska Festival
UPDATE: As german authorities denied a visa for Peter Austin of the Clarendonians they can’t perform at the festival. As Ken Boothe didn’t sing many of his hits at the Inna de Yard show the saturday might be the better choice now if you only want to go for a day.
