London International Ska Festival 2021

After 32 years in the game the LISF knows to present a great mix of contemporary and legendary artists on stage. Our highlights of this year are The Pioneers, Dennis Alcapone, Big Youth, Dave Barker and Christopher Ellis. In the past few years the festival has also focussed on including soundsystem culture to the aftershow parties and clubnights. World famous Sir Coxsone Outernational will set up their soundsystem at thursday night and Phil Bush’s all valve driven Sounds & Pressure soundsystem will be in full swing on saturday. We are very happy to announce that our Rhythm Ruler will play tunes alongside Phil and his other guest, Brian Kelson, that night.

UPDATE: Due to the Corona-crisis the festival is postponed. It is not yet clear if The Rhythm Ruler will still be able to make it, but please consider to support the festival that is now in quite some financial problems.

It was soundclash time once again in Berlin, this year happening in early fall at Badehaus. Despite the crazy prices for flights and hotels caused by another “Marathon” event, people travelled from all corners of Europe to witness this night. Our Soundsystem was set up in record time, due to a live show in the same venue that only ended 1 hour before. But as soon as the basslines did bubble through the speakers all those hectic moments were forgotten.
Before the war started it was time for the Prince Of Peace from Munich to warm up the place (not that it was was needed with 30degrees Celcius inside). He did an excellent job and got all feet dancing on the wooden floor. Read more

31.12.2019 – Reggae! Steady! Soul!

We are not sure how many days the longest Reggae! Steady! Soul! event counted, but in some years it seemed like an endless week of dancing and drinking. This year everyone steps back a little and the Carib Crew and Marc Forrest only run the famous ‘Böllerama‘ with a Reggae and a Soul floor on NYE. A great lineup with guest DJs from north and south of German is confirmed: Frank Upsetter and Jacqueline Hyde are coming from Hamburg and The Prince of Peace will bring his records from Munich. Local Old Fashioned Rudeboy ‘The Wickeder’ will join them and the Carib Crew behind the decks.

We don’t expect to hear many oldies on that night and most likely there will be a good amount of UK Dub / Steppas played. If you don’t mind these modern developments of original bass music we strongly recommend this event. 4 soundsystems inna de arena, this rarely happens.

It’s about time that this movie is finally screened in Germany more than a year after it’s premiere. Although some critics say that it exaggerates the role of Trojan Records in the popularity of Reggae Music in the UK and feels more like an promotional film than a proper documentary it should be well worth watching. The screening is free, so better don’t miss your chance. More screenings can be found on the official website.
