We are not sure how many days the longest Reggae! Steady! Soul! event counted, but in some years it seemed like an endless week of dancing and drinking. This year everyone steps back a little and the Carib Crew and Marc Forrest only run the famous ‘Böllerama‘ with a Reggae and a Soul floor on NYE. A great lineup with guest DJs from north and south of German is confirmed: Frank Upsetter and Jacqueline Hyde are coming from Hamburg and The Prince of Peace will bring his records from Munich. Local Old Fashioned Rudeboy ‘The Wickeder’ will join them and the Carib Crew behind the decks.
31.12.2019, 10pm, Tommy-Weißbecker Haus
Wilhelmstr. 9, 10963 Berlin
We don’t expect to hear many oldies on that night and most likely there will be a good amount of UK Dub / Steppas played. If you don’t mind these modern developments of original bass music we strongly recommend this event. 4 soundsystems inna de arena, this rarely happens.
27.12.2019, 11pm, YAAM An der Schillingbrücke 3, 10243 Berlin
It’s about time that this movie is finally screened in Germany more than a year after it’s premiere. Although some critics say that it exaggerates the role of Trojan Records in the popularity of Reggae Music in the UK and feels more like an promotional film than a proper documentary it should be well worth watching. The screening is free, so better don’t miss your chance. More screenings can be found on the official website.

We’ve been raving about the online project “No man is an island” by Morgan Nixon when we found it online some months ago. As our Rhythm Ruler was helping with information and pictures for some entries and also happens to work in the printing industry we already knew for a while that a book is in the making. We are thrilled that we can finally share this news with you!
About the book
“No Man Is An Island” is a community, not-for-profit project aiming to help people navigate the mind-numbing record pressing maze of the legendary Studio One label. This guide serves as a resource for those on a journey to find the best quality pressings of critical Studio One tracks. The book is the result of many years of collecting records, comparing fidelity and sound quality of pressings, and digging into Jamaican music history to understand the context of the sound production.
The book is available online at buyreggae.com and you can buy a copy offline at our next dance, Reggae Rumble on the 23rd of November. You can even get it signed by the author as Moman will be our guest selector and play some of the sweet Studio One tunes you will find in the books.
