It has been ages since we gathered for the last dance. We miss lifting boxes and playing tunes loud, but as this won’t happen in the near future we teamed up with our friends from Treasure Sounds in Hamburg to bring the dance from ours to your living rooms.

3.10.2020 – CLUB CULTURE DAY: YAAM United
Tag der Clubkultur (‘Club Culture Day’) was launched on the initiative of Berlin‘s Senator for Culture, Klaus Lederer, highlights the diversity and importance of Berlin‘s club culture in times of an existential crisis. As part of this showcase festival on October 3, 2020, up to forty clubs and collectives be rewarded for their contributions to Berlin’s club culture in recent years or even decades. On this day, each club and collective will present itself and the diversity and liveliness of Berlin’s club culture to the whole City.
YAAM is one of the venues rewarded and participating and we are glad to announce that our Rhythm Ruler is part of the Lineup. He will play records on the Lion’s Den Soundsystem alongside operator and owner of the Sound Ras Lion, Roots Daughters and Selektor Bony. All areas will be open including the Beach, Kids Corner and River Stage.
Don’t be late as there is limited capacity, bring a mask and follow the hygiene rules including registration at the entrance.

Summer is in full swing and what could be better than a soundsystem session by a lake? Our friends from the Freedom Fighter Soundsystem will string up a small set and invited DJ Goldfinga and Rattle Tone Discotheque to play records with them at Strandbad Plötzensee this saturday. To support the clubs that are heavily affected by the Corona-shutdown the Clubcomission Berlin initiated a daily livestream from various clubs in cooperation with arte. Two of our DJs played at YAAM for this cause. Find The Rhythm Ruler with a strictly Jamaican Oldies set right from the start and Panza with a modern selection representing Supersonic at 2:30h.

It’s been a while since The Rhythm Ruler recorded a mix and with the current circumstances there is more than enough time for it, so here you go. Starting with some recently released Ska on the Rock-A-Shacka label he takes you on a journey from the mid-sixties to the mid-seventies and added a recent production he plays on heavy rotation lately.
