Reggae in Berlin

Events organized or recommended by Maratone Long Distance HiFi – the original oldies soundsystem in Berlin

You will find many dances and concerts if you are looking for Reggae in Berlin. Some involve soundsystems, some are very low key and take place in former squats and small bars. As we are mostly interested in the sound of young Jamaica we focus on events where you can hear Ska, Rocksteady, Early Reggae and  Roots from vinyl with our recommendations.

Reggae in Berlin

Regular Events

Vinyl Episodes
This night started at the cosy Kupferbar right above Cafe Nest in autumn 2019. A bunch of selectors from the big circle of friends the boss Sandra calls her own play different styles of music weekly. It doesn’t have to be Vintage Reggae necessarily but whenever we visited a nice amount of Jamaican Oldies was played. And you can always count to get a glass of fine Rum served.
Every Thursday, 8pm
Kupferbar, Görlitzer Str. 52, 10997 Kreuzberg

Berlin’s oldest and most frequent Allnighter. You will find original vinyl records only on the decks and the audience is quite subcultural. Skinheads, Mods and Punks share the wooden dancefloor of Linie1, the bar of the formerly squatted Tommy Weisbecker house. The Carib Crew is running this nighter for more than 20 years now and despite the free entrance you will find great international DJs with heavyweight tunes behind the decks from time to time. THE place for Early Reggae in Berlin!
Every First Friday, 10pm
Linie1, Wilhelmstrasse 9, 10963 Kreuzberg

Everything Crash
Another former squat, the Schokoladen in Berlin-Mitte, is home to the Everything Crash Allnighter. Since Don Caribou and Prince Ralph started it up in 2005 they changed location twice but kept the concept: They play classic Jamaican ska, rocksteady and early reggae on vintage 45s, topping it off with rare soul grooves.
Every Second Friday, 10pm
Schokoladen, Ackerstr. 169, 10115 Berlin
